Hi hun
Sorry to hear about the trouble your having with this company..
I used to work for them as an agent (hangs head in shame)
I have to say that it is a very easy job to get into (or was when I did) and they did not do any checks on me which I thought rather worrying as they then leave you to collect other peoples money and bank it (it is down to the agent to bank the money each week too)
I would go into the office and have it out with them.0 -

I never even thought of that, thanks for that, I will certainly mention that when I send in a copy of my book:T0 -

no probs. I work in financial services and it is THE golden rule when looking after other peoples money and confidential information
If you dont get any joy by making a complaint you can take it higher and the company will end up paying you money and a massive fine (if they are regulated by the FSA)
:T
EDIT: Which they are I just checked their website!
Details of making a complaint can be found at the following site:

You will have to submit a written complaint to Provident first but if you are not satisfied with their response or they take longer than 8 weeks to get back to you with a resolution you can get compensation for that tooHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. This needs looking into pronto by the office; your book should be either in your hands or the office's - the agent should have hold of it for the minimum time. Something dodgy is going on with this I think. Do you have a copy of the loan agreement that you signed for the new loan - and which settled the old one? There was not even any real reason for the book to be taken in to the office at that point IMO as the agent can update the book with details of the settlement of the old loan and details of the new one. If the office have requested the book go in for auditing fair enough but you say that they think the agent has it. And now you have not had an agent call - this is so many different kinds of wrong!
I worked for similar company for about three years:o and would never judge a person who takes out a loan from Provident or similar; it is so often a case of needs must and for the time I did the job, I had never had so many cards and pressies at Christmas. I carried on with it even when I didn't really need to because loved the people and actually enjoyed the work even though knew it's not particularly well thought of....
I really hope your problem gets sorted - somebody somewhere has f***ed up!

You have nothing to be ashamed about for working for them, we all need to earn money, and we have to find ways of doing that. I think I would go for the managers throat:eek: if I ever came face to face with her again. There is a lot more to it, as my sister is also a customer of provident and has the same agent as me, and they are taking it out on her as well, with the manager leaving nasty messages on her phone. Don't worry, the chairman of provident knows all about this too.
Edit: I forgot to add that the agent has not been to my sisters house for the last 9 weeks to collect any payment of her, and are now threatening legal proceedings against her.0 -

I got my book back about 2 weeks after asking for it, she was very reluctant to give it back, my friend looked at my book when I got it back, she used to work for provident many years ago auditing the books, and she was horrified in what she saw, and non of the balances add up. When I got the letter yesterday on behalf of the chairman, they sent a statement of my account to check against my book, so my friend is going to go through it with me.0 -

Am v glad to hear that you have an expert on the case....
What amazes me is that (alleged - just in case of any potential for libel....) dodgy agents think they can get away with it. It SHOULD be quite clear what has been paid and when and what amount relates to what, why on Earth do people think that because a customer uses this kind of credit service, they don't have a brain???? :mad:Blonde: Unemployed: Bankrupt.

I have just filled in a online form to the Information Comissioners Office regarding Provident breaching the Data Protection Act, I have also attached all correspondence that has been sent to provvy. Not only as my agent discussed my account with my sister, this discussion also took place in a public street, but also the local office has as well, this has all been done without my permission.
(By the way, I am not angry with my sister for trying to find out what was going on, but provvy should have said that they can't discuss my account with her, which they never did say!)0 -

I applied for a provvy job before christmas and didnt get it because I have a CCJ. I was told that to work for them I have to have no defaults or CCJs against my name. Not sure about police checks as I didnt get that far, but Im sure it mentioned them on the job application form.0
