Cex problem

Hi I dont know if anyone can help but I have a problem with Cex. I think I have been quite naive and trusting and now I have bern stung and I am not sure what I can do about it. On Tuesday 8th my husband took a Toshiba laptop into Cex to sell to them, we havent really done much like this before but we do not use the laptop and it seemed silly for it to gather dust and we had heard that Cex took laptops. We had set it back to factory settings and made sure that it was working perfectly well which it was. We were travelling the 21miles to the city (we live rurally) anyway so we took it along.
My husband took it in while I went off and did some other stuff, they said that they could give him £98 for it but that testing would take over a day so we could have the money paid into our bank account in 2-3 days. Due to living so faat away and having to go to work (we are both support workers and work 13 hour shifts) we said yes to that and signed all the relevant forms. We left the laptop there.
They told us that if there was a problem they would ring us. Fast forward to Friday and i checked our bank account expecting to see the £98 but no, nothing. I emailed Cex and eventually today (monday) they have told me that they laptop did not pass their testing, it had a boost loop (i have no idea what that is) and they have been ringing my husbands mobile none stop since last Tuesday.
This is rubbish. Not only has no one rang, his mobile is always on as our son is autistic and we keep our phones on all the time in case of a problem but the laptop was perfectly fine when we handed it in. What have they done to it? When i questioned them about ringing they said all they got was an engaged tone. That is just rubbish, we have been at work and no one has rang. Our phones are kept on us constantly.
How can i prove that they have done something to the laptop? It was fine when we handed it in, it is disgusting what they have done. We cannot collect it until Wednesday now due to work so who knows what will happen to it. Any advice would be appreciated

Have you tried talking to them? Doing business by email is the best way to raise tension and cause problems
A 'boot loop' means the laptop is endlessly rebooting. It's definitely fixable but I wouldn't expect CEX to spend the time doing it.
Talk to them - ask them to try again0 -
We have not been abke to get to the shop, it is 21 miles away and we have been working which is why we went for the bank transfer. The laptop was working when we dropped it off, why would it suddenly not be working? They do not have store telephone numbers so i guess we will just have to wait until Wednesday. I dont expect them to fix it, i didnt exoect it to be broken in the first place0
