Just to pipe in (because I don't know), but do Apple support anything similar to Qualcomm Quick Charge 3? It means (compatible) phones can negotiate a charge at 5v, 9v or 12v or frankly any voltage in between. On my phones it's changed charging from overnight to an hour or so.
I very much doubt it, if you look at the post I made above, it has links and videos showing Apple insert chip to stop their kit working with 3rd party kit unless they license it for a fee of course.
I guess you could Google it.Please be nice to all MoneySavers. That’s the forum motto. Remember, the prime aim is to help provide info and resources. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't that just a cable to connect to laptop?
If so few things
1. As shown in my post above, the cables from PC's only supply 5v so at 0.5amp so lame
2. Genuine Apple cable on 7dayshop for £6.19 vs £6.99 for the Anker

3. The 736 1 star reviews on Amazon is a bit concerning, especially this one about it causing a fire!

it's just the cable. you can connect it to your laptop or use any plug with a usb connection - i have a lot of these at home so doesn't bother me. all apple chargers are, are the plug and the separate cable. usually people need a new cable because the apple ones have a habit of breaking near the top due to bending. the genuine apple charger that comes with my phone lasts about 6-9 months in my experience so it's not worth paying the £30ish from apple.
compared with the 4,593 5* reviews i took my chance. like i said, i've been using them 4 years and never had an issue. but you can't win them all. i've heard of people who have had genuine apple chargers catch fire - may be a manufacturing defect, may be their plug socket? who knows? you can always have a bad one in the bunch no matter who manufactures it. but this product has over 6,000 reviews with a 4.5* rating so good enough for me.
and using a spare usb plug connection, the anker cable charges my iphone 6 in around 1.5 hours, faster if i connect to my macbook - yes i'm an apple sucker :rotfl:. not sure what voltage that is, i'm not very electrical minded! but it works for me. :j (would probably not recommend the iphone 6 however, as the battery life is poo!)CCCC #33: £42/£240

Tell me about it... I think I've literally been through about 10 chargers in the last couple of years. I often use Amazon too, however last year I found a set of of chargers which have miraculously lasted me about a year now and i'm only on the first one.0
