in Credit cards
Has anybody else noticed that when you make a purchase in foreign currency the initial price changes a couple of days later. Made a purchase in Australian Dollars and account showed £607 then later it showed £614. This does seem strange and could possibly make this credit card no so attractive

Credit card payments in general are not settled immediately, they are pending for a couple of days or so. When a currency conversion is involved, a provisional rate is shown at the time of transaction. Later, on the date of settlement the rate is fixed, and will have gone up or down according to currency fluctuation while it was pending. You are just as likely to gain slightly as you are to lose a little.Evolution, not revolution0

I've seen this happening with prepaid and credit cards as well. The reason is that the transaction will eventually settle after you authorised the purchase. The purchase will put a "hold" on your card for the exchange rate of that day, but the actual amount might vary depending on the rate of the day it settles. Sometimes it's worse, sometimes it's better.0
