  • Thankyou. Don’t actually know what MIG is. Before I read previous thread I thought we had a case but I can see now this is unlikely, I just know we could not have mortgage without paying this insurance. To be quite honest I thought it was a reasonable condition at the time even though employment was secure.

    It is where the lender charged a lump sum (or monthly if you paid it off over a period) for borrowing a higher loan to valuation. Quite normal in the 80s but rarely seen after around 1998.
    I just know we could not have mortgage without paying this insurance.

    If you didnt increase your deposit, you had to pay MIG.
    To be quite honest I thought it was a reasonable condition at the time even though employment was secure.

    That is probably cloudy memory and misunderstanding as it has nothing to do with employment.
