Is this wise?PO ferries missing return

I am currently thinking of going to netherlands on Ferry using PO ferries, howvere it's cheaper for me to book one return and one single than 1 return.
They make you tick a box stating that they can charge your debit card if you do not complete your journeys.
I am thinking of using my spare debit card, paying for the journey and then closing my bank account (I never use it anyway!) after I have paid for the booking.
Anyone done anything similar?

So, you are planning to book two different day returns. Presumably giving the same name and registration number... I think they will notice what you are doing, and you might not be allowed on the ferry when you eventually try to come home.
You clearly understand their terms and conditions, so if you are unwilling to abide by them perhaps you should travel with a different company.0 -
Why don't you stand outside P&O's offices shouting that you are trying to "pull a fast one". It might be slightly less obvious than what you intend doing.
Do what the previous poster said and come back via a different company - or book your return trip AFTER you get to Europe so you can then claim "you changed your mind"0 -

So you are knowingly going to try and defraud the ferry company?0 -
I will be coming back on norfolk line.(vi) All bookings of Restricted Duration are only valid where the outward and return journeys are completed within the specified period of time, with the same vehicle and passengers and using the same operator. If you fail to travel on one part of your booking then we may charge you a supplement. That supplement will be the difference between the amount you have paid and the price for the standard single fare appropriate to the sailing used. This payment will be collected using the credit card details provided when paying for the original booking.
I could just get there and cancel the return booking I guess, can't see anything in the terms saying anything against that.0 -
Even if you close the account, they can still claim the money from you. The problem this would cause is that you may not hear about the claim until it gets to debt collectors, at which point an additional amount will have been added.
Really not a good idea.Gone ... or have I?0 -

That would be the bit that covers that.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
hmm
I am considering using entropay and entering a false address in the address section.
That should do the job, in theory.0 -
