decreasing life assurance with critiacl illness cover

we are in the process of buying a new house which is a bit more expensive than the one we are in now so i know i will have to rearange new life assurance, i normally go for decreasing life assurance with critical illness cover but was wondering if the latter is actually needed as it doubles the premium. Both my OH and i are healthy in the physical sense and non of our families have ever had a critical illness except for my OH grandfather who had altzheimers, neither family has had any kind of cancer or anything serious that any of our families know of. is it worth taking the risk and not getting it or is it advisable to take it out.
thanks in advance

Most of the people who suffer a critical illness are in good health up to that point.is it worth taking the risk and not getting it or is it advisable to take it out.
About 1 in 6 will suffer a claimable event before retirement. So, for 1 in 6, it is worth it.
