Car Insurance Renewal Hike!

Last year I was parked on the road. I was on the opposite side of the road and watched in horror as a delivery van hit the front of my car as he was trying to turn. I got all his details, phoned my insurer who were the RAC with all the details and was told this wouldn't affect my no claims when I came to renew. Last week I got a reminder to renew but the price had gone up by almost £300!! I phoned RAC to query this and they said it was because I had made a claim about an accident I had had. I told them that if they looked at my records it wasn't me who had the accident and that I wasn't even in the car at the time but this seemed to fall on deaf ears and they wouldn't budge on the renewal quote. Needless to say I told them they could keep their insurance! Just goes to prove what everyone already knows - that insurance companies are the biggest crooks around:

So the non fault accident did not affect your NCD?
But because you are a higher risk now and insurance for most people has increased greatly this past year, your premium has went up.
Go to the comparison sites and also directly to the insurance company's that are not on comparison to get other quotes.
Remember you will have to state that you have had a claim/accident etc in the last 5 years:(The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -
I had 2 non fault accidents in the last 2 yrs although it didnt make any difference to my NCB this years renewal quote went up from £223 to £485 with Hastings Direct. A quick look at the comparison sites came up with Tesco ins at £270 +£40 cashback via quidco.
When i rang Hastings to stop the auto renewal i was accused of not declaring the incidents which isnt the case. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
