Manchester Airport *short stay* parking

I'll be picking my girlfriend up from the airport on Thursday evening, and I see that a couple of hours' parking is £5.10 which seems a little excessive. Does anyone have any hints for ways to get this cheaper or alternative parking?
TIA

Park on shadowmoss road and get the bus £1.00 each way so will cost you £3.00 You will then have to walk from the bus station to the terminal and ( not really much help as buses are not as often in the evening and this method may not impress your girlfriend)SteveBentley wrote: »I'll be picking my girlfriend up from the airport on Thursday evening, and I see that a couple of hours' parking is £5.10 which seems a little excessive. Do you know anyone who works there you could borrow there staff car park pass and park free in the staff car park ( you get a free staff bus to the airport and back every 10mins )
Drive around until she is ready to get picked up outside the airport as you can now pick up there ( you will have to get her to ring you when ready)
Otherwise you will have to pay as there is nowhere you can park for more than 1/2 for free ( You could park for upto 1/2 hour for free upto 2 weeks ago but not sure if you still can )and if you are parked on the road they will tow you way.Avid freecycler (Received Dishwasher, Cooker, 0ver, fridge, freezer and Bathroom suit)

Thanks for that advice guys

Marky, I pay about £1.80 for a couple of hours in town here in Huddersfield so this does seem a bit over the top, but what the hell, it's worth it to be able to see my girlfriend a bit sooner!0 -
Depending on which terminal you are going to depends on the procedure, there is a 15 mins free (until middle of October) pick up and drop off area for terminal 3, at the other terminals there is pick up / drop off short term parking that is a couple of quid (cannot remember the exact fee). Other than that she could just walk to the rail station (in between T1 and T2) and meet you near there somewhere. There is no parking but is does not have the blanket no vehicle restrictions there are near the terminal buildings, if she was waiting there for you you could just do a quick pick up.Signature No Longer acceptable -

I am going to fly to Dublin next Wednesday and a friend was planning to just drop us off at Terminal 1. She then told me that she would have to pay £1.80 to drop us off and then again to pick us up. This seems a little steep since she literally just going to let us out of the car.
I havent used this airport much but do those in the know, know if there anyway she can just drop us off at Terminal 1 without being charged ?
I am sure when I went there before it didnt cost anything to drop or pick someone up !
fatnbald has suggested being dropped off at the Train Station, is it very far to walk from Station to Terminal 1 ?"The time is always right to do what is right"0
