Hi all, I split from my wife nearly 3 years ago now. We have no children between us. We've both moved on, have new partners and children with them. You are not required to have a solicitor but the court has to be satisfied that the order is fair and that you both understand it and are entering into it freely. The Judge can list the case for a short (5 or 10 minute) hearing if they have concerns.

You would be able to get an order drawn up by a solicitor and for a straightforward clean break this could be done for a fixed fee.
