Honestly, the trade need to be regulated. I was trying to explain the difference between a deposit and rent to the lady, she cut me off and ask me to go to citizen advice bureau! Rent cannot be taken past tenancy date and as I have always paid the rent in advance, they have no reason to withhold my rent and then hope I find another money to pay deposit and rent in another accommodation. All these while ending the contract early.

If I have not arranged another accommodation and the stress of eviction, I am tempted to stay till the end of my contract.

What a b!tch! Contact your landlord. You're moving out early to accommodate him so he needs to give the letting agent a massive boot up the backside and get them to act in his best interests since he is their customer.
