Question about changing from card to credit meters

Hi!

This may sound a bit naive but... :o A couple of months back I had my gas and electric card (pre-payment) meters changed to credit. No problem there.

My question is this. Are the gas/electricity companies supposed to contact me to let me know stuff like the standing charge, how much I'll be paying for my gas/electricity etc? If so they haven't done.

If it's my responsibility I'll get on to it, because I'd like to be able to budget and/or work out if I'd be better switching suppliers.

All help appreciated.

Almost certainly you will be on their standard tariff, which will almost certainly be their most expensive.

If you contact them now they might put you on a more attractive tariff and backdate it to the date they changed meters.

    Thanks Cardew. Will do.

I was just a bit concerned that I've never received any notification as to my new rate. Not surprising if they don't want me to know that I could be getting it cheaper!

    Hi,

I doubt they will do this, rather they will send you a quarterley bill detailing your readings which will also state your standing charge/units etc.
