How to get 30 years of banking history

Options
I have been with HSBC ( or midland as it was then ! ) for 32 years and took out numerous loans, credit cards mortgages etc with them over this period. Whilst I have boxes of paperwork, I want to get from HSBC a complete list of all of these from the start of my account to see what I might be owed in PPI as my boxes of paperwork aren't a complete history
Is there a way to get such a banking history from HSBC - I have tried via the phone and they just say I am being to vague with my request !
I am bi polar and this had had an awful effect in how I have managed my affairs ( only just felt strong enough to open 3 years of unopened correspondence ) and I am on my own - I don't know whether to mention this as a way of getting the bank to co operate with me or if they will put it on record to prevent any further loans etc I may need in the future.
Any help or advice as how to get over this initial hurdle so that I can then look into PPI mis sold to me over such a long perios ( know there are at least 2 incidents of it already !
thanks so much
PS first time ever on a forum so fingers crossed !

You can submit a DSAR request with £10 payment for a copy of everything they still hold on you.

You do not need this for a PPI complaint.
    You are not owed anything.

If you have evidence of PPI on a loan or credit card or mortgage simply send in a complaint with your complaint reasons and evidence and see what they come back with.

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

No there is not. They are required to destroy data that is no longer required over time. So, anything they have will be incomplete.

You can spend £10 and do a Data subject access request. That will give you copies of what they have. It will likely be very thick running into hundreds or even thousands of pages. Some of which may not be in a consumer friendly format. However, it is the best you can get.

Or you can ring their PPI line and tell them you dont know if you had it and they will check and take your reasons for complaint if you did have it.
