Crewe heritage retail park fine

Hi, this is my first post so I apologise for any mistakes.
Today I was sent in the post a fine for overstaying the maximum stay limit on crewe heritage retail park if any of you know it. The parking limit is 2 hours and on this particular day (Wednesday 1st March) the 2 shops situatated on it Dunelm and Home & Bargains are open until 8pm. I arrived at the car park at 7:30pm and left at 10pm as I go the gym across the road. As I respect I was 30 minutes over the maximum stay, I believe The fine they have given me of £40 Is unfair. I just want to know where I should go from here.
Is there any point in appealing?
Is the fine unfair? I don't think anybody could spend £40 in either of them shops within 30 mins. Plus the shops close at 8pm and I was on the carpark after that time.
Just wondering where should I begin? Thank you
