Boiler Protection - Please Help?!?!

Hi,

I've just moved into a new house and have never had to worry about this sort of thing before, but I have just received a letter from British Gas asking if I would like to join their Homecare system.

To be honest, I haven't got a clue whether it's worth doing or not or whether it's a complete waste of money. And not only that, is British Gas the only company that do this sort of protection package and if not who else does?

Can I have your advice please?

If you do a search on this forum you will find scores of posts on this very subject.

Opinions are very divided on the value of the scheme, although all of us agree it is very expensive; however you do get an annual safety check.

I have had it for many years and the service I have had has been really good. Others have had very poor service.

It is really a form of insurance for most of us.

Anyway read all the posts in the many other threads and form your own opinion.

The best bet is without doubt to get an honest local corgi registered plumber who won't rip you off - not an easy animal to locate!!
