Downsize A4 to A5 document on Open Office

I have a document on Open Office for our club that I want to send to the printers as an A5 document. Can I downsize the text automatically to fit an A5 size. When I change the page layout at the moment from A4 to A5 the text and a couple of small photographs remains the same size and comes out as 2 pages which is no use to me.It means I have to try and change everything line by line at the moment and think there must be an easier way

Personally I'd use a pdf printer, not sure if open office has one inbuilt. And print it as A5.
Once it is in pdf format there is a lot less chance of anything going wrong. That being said the printer should be able to handle the request to print an A4 document as A5 I'd have thought.0 -
A bit of software called FinePrint made an A4, and kept the text as it was, but smaller and put it as an A5 automatically.
There should be an option in open office to chose A5 paper and you can change the size of your font.
Libre office does have an 'Export as PDF', fairly sure open office has one too.
For small runs, would photocopying, or a colour laser not be cheaper, because even 23 years ago printers wanted £17 just to make a plate (non metal cheapest) per side for one colour?0 -
Don't do anything.
Send your A4 proof to the printer and tell them to print at A5Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Hi
Perhaps create it as an A5 template, and choose a font size of half of the A4.
Making it A4 portrait, then Format; Page; A5; Landscape and it will create 2 pages.
You can then print multiple copies of Page 1, flip / double side and print multiple copies of Page 2.
If it is a 'newsletter' or similar then perhaps consider creating in 'SCRIBUS' https://www.scribus.net/ and see it before you print it.
Create the document in A4, take a screen shot, paste it into Paint and shrink / crop to 50%, and /or paste it into a LibreOffice A5 document and shrink / crop to suit.

I have had a similar issue, I cannot see how you can transfer an Open Office document A4 onto PDF automatically downsizing to A5 size Once the document is on a PDF file you cannot amend it. As I was looking for 2000 Flyers A5 printing them at home was out of the question The printers would not downsize them for us.I had to completely redo the document as an A5 document which took me hours as photographs were involved.I also try going into Open Office Layout and changing it to A5 size but then the text did not fit. I am not very technical and some of the very good suggestions seem a bit complicated to me. I just was hoping to press a button and by magic it would change. Obviously not possible!!!0

I use bullzip pdf printer. At least in Word all I have to do is select this as the printer, choose A5 as the page size and the select scale to page size. I can's see the same options not being available in Open Office.
That's it.
Failing that you can publish as an A4 pdf, and then use the print options in your pdf viewer to achieve the same thing.0 -
redesign it as an a5. or
Libra office is free, so install that.
The lazy way is to take a screen shot of the a4, in paint cut the good bit out, and paste it into an a5 document page.
I have no affiliations - just googled 'uk cheap photocopies' and these lot do 5000 A5 for £40

Bet the printer will have their own software or windows driver than will convert it to a5. Our laser at work does.
According to this open office can export it as pdf. Also there are A4 to A5 instructions too.

It is one of the most difficult situations that I face after completing my lengthy reports. What I do to get out of this situation is to just change the font at a desired and readable size and it gets the work done for me. Hope it helps you out too.0

fonts? word document?
must be a pdf - otherwise you are simply hoping the printer has that font on their computer.0
