PPI Claim Without Proof

Options
Hi all, This is my first post so I'm hoping I'm not duplicating anyone else's posts. We had PPI with our pension mortgage from February 1994 to August 2001 at which time we were lucky enough to pay off the mortgage. At the time I thought I would cull the paperwork and threw away everything that related to this element of the mortgage. We still have the pension element of it so I have an account number for this but not for the PPI. This was with the Abbey National which, of course, has now become Santander. Is there any point in pursuing this as I have no proof of the PPI and I am guessing Santander records will not go back this far. Any advice would be really welcome. Many thanks.

But did Abbey sell the insurances or did a broker/agent?
