Fitting Celotex PL4000 to solid wall

Hi,
I have been left in a pickle by a bathroom fitter who half bodged a job and left me with a stripped bathroom. Part of the job was to fit celotex pl4000 (the stuff bonded to plasterboard) to the external wall. This was done using timber battens but it is such a mess (particularly around the window reveal) that I am going to pull it down and refit with new insulation.

To save space in the room I am thinking of skipping the battens and fixing direct to the plaster wall. I know that the standard way to do this is using dot and dab plasterboard adhesives, but since this is not something I have tried before, I was looking at the fancy foam (dry fix) plasterboard adhesives as an alternative. Will this work (with suitable mechanical fixing as a backup) or am I asking for problems.

Incidentally, if anyone is or knows a bathroom fitter or tiler in the Bristol area who may be able to help out on short notice, please let me know!

Cheers,
Edward

Are you going to tile on top of the plasterboard side?

Yes, after sealing the plasterboard with SBR.

I did this (foamfix + some mechanical fixings) albeit with Hardibacker board for large heavy ceramic tiles over the top and it was absolutely fine, not going anywhere.
