Miss Ambridge

HI

Was wondering if you could help me?
Back in 2011 my partner took out a accidential death insurance poilcy, Unfortunately my partner passed away in a car accident in 2015.

The problem I have was that he was still married when he passed away. He had been seperated from his wife for over 15 years and had lived with me in the house we bought together for over 10 years.
I have been told by the insurance company that I cant claim the money as he was still married and all the money would go to his wife.

I paid all the payments myself for this poilcy, as at the time my partner was not wotking. All the other insurance poilcies he had I could claim no problem and recieved the money with no issues.

I dont understand why this poilcy is any differant. I have been trying to claim this money for over 2 years now and getting no where so I am hoping you could help me.

Many thanks

You really need to get proper legal advice from a solicitor over this issue

What has the insurer told you about the beneficiary of this plan and how it was chosen?

Unless written in trust, or on a life of another basis, the benefit from such cover should be paid into the estate of the deceased.

Did he leave a will, or die intestate?

Who was the beneficiar(y/ies) of the estate?

These are questions you will need to answer when you seek professional help.

Have you got a copy of the insurance policy itself ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
