This is an itv competition for the voice,
We're giving away an INCREDIBLE prize worth £80,000! The lucky winner will get their hands on £40,000 tax-free cash & a snazzy Mercedes GLA. PLUS the winner & three guests will jet off to Universal Orlando Resort™, to experience the rides & attractions in the three theme parks & be one of the first splashing into Volcano Bay, opening this Summer!
I was wondering how many people you think enter these competitions for itv shows like this morning, the voice and tipping point etc.
As itv has removed the free online entries how many people do you think pay to enter these competitions?

From another thread
ITV accounts reveal over 40,000,000 paid competition entries per year, add on the 3 for 2, BOGOF and "free" postal entries and they will be getting well over 1,000,000 entries per week so the chances of getting anything are so slim it's debatable if even a postal entry is worth doing. Our digital engagement has grown significantly in the year, delivering 100 million votes across our big entertainment shows and 40 million paid competition entries0 -
Well that's disappointing. Had my fingers crossed for a win one day.
But I'm sure I read somewhere that the odds are worse than the lottery so I sort of knew I didn't have much of a chance.0 -
That's a ton considering the population of the UK is 64 million and around 15 million of those would be under 18. Thanks for the figures! They seem to run around 3/4 competitions a week so each would have 225,000-375,000 entries but I guess that would depend on the prize/show!Only started comping! wins so far, 2 night mini cruise, £50 Amazon voucher, £100 Argos voucher...........0

It's entries not people, some allow 15 paid entries and some even more per entry route so the approx 770,000 paid entries per week could be made by less than 50,000 people.
I suspect nearly everyone who pays to enter does at least 2 paid entries to get the 3rd one free with many going on to get at least some of the free entries with every extra paid one (£2 =1 entry, £20 = 10 paid entries and 9 free ones)
The big competitions can run for 3 weeks or more and some of the one offs (like The Voice) can run for a couple of months.
My guess is they get around 2,000,000 entries a week and the big competitions are easily getting 1,000,000 plus.0 -
Surely there are less entries now that there are no online free entries? And there were plenty of MSE winners when there were free entries? Surely a better chance now there isn't. I personally knew of several compers whose friends or family one when there was free entry - let alone the whole list of people on here.Comping again after a break..... Bring on the wins!0

I read it on here too - although the lottery doesn't (or certainly never used to) guarantee one big winner. At least with the ITV ones someone is definitely going to win it!2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -

The Lotto and ITV have appalling odds but ITV return even less of the money staked than Lotto. ITV could easily be taking in £1,200,000 a week from paid entries, if that was the Lotto they would be be returning over £600,000 a week in prizes, ITV pay nothing like that amount (By comparison both single and double green Roulette would on average return over £1,100,000 from the same stake)
After a certain number of rollovers the lotto has to be won and if no one matches 6 numbers it's paid on 5+ the bonus or 5 etc. the end of Dec was the most recent one where 5+ the bonus won over £26 million.
(Forgot about the lotto raffle prizes which are guaranteed to be won each draw , 1 x £1 million and 20 x £20,000)
As I posted on another threadThe 49's (a lottery bet with most bookmakers) pays 150,000 to 1 for the top prize so for the value of one second class stamp you could win £82,500 and the odds of winning, about 318,000 to one, are far better than ITV competitions offering prizes anywhere near the same value. (When lotto hotpicks was effectively the same bet the lotto paid out 130,000 to one)0 -
Someone on another forum I use won the channel 5 neighbours competition of a holiday to Australia and £500 spends. She only sent one postcard and was told there were over 30,000 entries in total xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

What a lucky lady
However I think there would be a LOT fewer entries overall into a competition to win a holiday to Australia, than for (say) £20,000 cash. The holiday would only be desirable for a small proportion of people who might normally enter, whereas the cash is going to come in handy to all and sundry! So the 30,000 entries for this comp is probably only a drop in the ocean compared to the big cash comps.0 -

The audience for Channel 5 programmes is also generally lower than ITV, with The Voice having roughly 6 times the number of viewers of Neighbours, the audience demographics are also different and I am guessing the average viewer of this morning/loose women is far more likely to phone in to win than a Neighbours viewer even if the prizes were the same.0
