Hello everyone, I hope you can help me with a slightly complex issue, that I may be making more complex in my head, but here we go. I apologise if things seem a little vague, and apologies in advance for a lengthy explanation.
Many years ago in the early 2000s I had a mortgage with NatWest. I sold my house and paid the mortgage off after a couple of years when I moved into another house and had a mortgage through another provider.
Not long after moving and paying the mortgage off, I became very ill and a number of unfortunate things happened. Most importantly for the sake of this thread the relationship I was in ended and I was too ill to work. Everything I had in my life such as paperwork was thrown away by my ex.
Fast forward to now, I'm much better health-wise but I'm still playing catch-up on a lot of my personal admin from the last 10 years or so and have noticed a small payment that comes out of my bank account every month called "NatWest mortgage MRB". As I haven't had the mortgage since around 2007, and have changed bank account since then I'm after some advice on where to start with contacting NatWest about this. The payment must have made it across from my old bank account under the "we switch all your direct debits" promise and I just didn't notice. I haven't cancelled the payment as I don't want to lose the one link I have to it as I have none of the paperwork from back then.
I am not sure which department to contact first, how to start the conversation as I can imagine it probably makes very little sense. Is anyone able to after me any advice? I am fully aware I should have spotted this a long time ago but spending several years dealing with a misbehaving autoimmune disease and not being able to work or have anywhere permanent to live took up most of my time!

Nothing complex about it.
You call the bank and talk to them. Tell them what you posted here.

You ask them nicely to refund your money because you have't had a mortgage since 2007....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
