Questions asked by Lloyd's re my complaint

Options
Hi. It turns out I had ppi on a lloyds cc from 1999-2007. I was not aware of this. Lloyd's have asked for my contract details of a period of employment that is too far back for the company records. Lloyd's are ringing me back tomorrow. My question is does not having this information stop me from persuing my complaint??(which was I believe it was added without my knowledge & I would not have taken it out, as I was at the family home rent free and had support financially at the time of the policy being started) thanks.

You are making an allegation of wrong doing, they are looking to see if the policy was suitable (e.g. if it would have covered you), if you can't provide evidence they can only judge on what they can prove. Did your complaint mention having great work benefits etc?

PPI was never added without your knowledge, it would be on the agreement you signed (or sold via the phone later) and on every statement where you had a balance (i.e. not paying off in full every month) so you either didn't notice it or didn't read your statements.

Provide them with what you have and they'll deal with it. Don't focus too much on the "family would pay it off" type agreements as that harms your case as it proves you couldn't have covered the payments yourself thus making PPI useful

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

This suggests you have used a complaint reason with information that differs from their own records or you worked for a company they have no records on.
My question is does not having this information stop me from persuing my complaint?

No. You have made your complaint and it is now in progress. However, if you cannot evidence an allegation you are making it can go against you.
which was I believe it was added without my knowledge & I would not have taken it out, as I was at the family home rent free and had support financially at the time of the policy being started

All very weak reasons. Nothing of substance there that usually works well on a complaint. This is probably why they are asking for more info. Only one thing needs to be wrong for it to be upheld. So, if any of those things you mention were enough to uphold it, the you would not be asked.

Did you not receive a statement in the eight years you had the card?
