seeing the recipe for scones made me think of cobblers, I don't know if they've been mentioned before in the thread but they're a great alternative to pastry or dumplings to eke out a stew.
they're basically a savoury scone but there are a few recipes online, I tried to find a st delia recipe (I'm sure there's one somewhere).
I like them cos the underneath goes a bit dumplingy and the top nice a crisp so you get the best of both worlds
I personally wouldn't serve spuds with them too but I do like a beef stew with lots of butter beans in with a cobbler top.
Bah! now I want that for dinner and I know i've no diced beef in and grocery challenge budget wont allow me to buy any0 -
Dumplings are v. easy & will fill up your teens hollow legs (on a stew etc)
4 oz self-raising flour, 2 oz, suet, pinch salt, little cold water to mix. Must go in while the stew is actually bubbling in the middle, 20 mins to cook.
Your list could go in excelI've got mine set to grey the item out when quantity =0
