Passport photo - jewellery

My teenage daughter just had her passport photo taken but I'm worried about it. She was wearing a plastic choker that looks like a circular neck tattoo. It doesn't obscure any of her features, but I'm worried that it might cause problems in future if customs officers think it is a real tattoo and wonder where it has gone. Do you think we should get the photos re-done? I'm annoyed that the photographer didn't tell her to take it off at the time.

I think that Immigration officers (Customs has nothing to do with this) know about this kind of issue and look at other aspects of a photograph to identify someone. So I do not think you need to be concerned.0

Have you actually submitted the application yet? If you have then it's probably not worth trying to change it because I can't see that any rules have been broken, but if it hasn't gone in yet then it might be worth going back to the photographer to ask them if they will retake the photo, even if you have to pay a small amount for the extra printing.0

Anything that detracts from a clear likeness is to be avoided, best to minimise any possibility of problems for the 10years of the passport's validity.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Thanks! Yes, my mind went blank, I don't know why I typed customs not immigration! I guess I'm just worried that if she went backpacking across different countries, she might run into that one immigration officer who got funny about it.0

The worst thing that will happen is they will send you a letter asking you to send some replacement photos. I know this because I received a letter yesterday because I was showing the bottom of my top teeth. They had kept my old passport and asked me for 2 new pictures.0 -

Well thats not strictly true as in the uk we are all one happy family nowdays strictly speaking there are no such things as immigration or customs officer anymore.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
The photos will be fine.
It's only on the face that details matter0 -
The photos may be fine but I can guarantee she'll regret it in a few years' time. I remember those things from the nineties, they fell out of fashion very quickly and I'd have hated seeing it on my passport for the next ten years!0

Easy fix! Make sure she takes the choker with her and every time she goes through a border she wears it. Winning.0
