Damned ipad

When a message comes in, my iphone pings, my laptop pings but my ipad just sits there smugly doing nothing.

The ringer is ON, the volume rocker is on maximum, via settings>notifications>messenger allfive sliders on on green and of the three portrait icons beneath, it is the Alerts that is highlighted.

I googled the question and the surprise was, I am not alone in the fact that many do not get a notification sound when a receiving a messege via messenger.

Both the iPhone and the iPad are logged into the same iTunes/Cloud account?
Settings > Messages on the iPad, does anything look disabled?

I seem to have sorted it now thanks. Via iPhone settings> notification, I needed to slide something to make it active, that linked with iPad. Then later someone sent me a text, and both pinged. I have yet to receive a mssge to confirm that is ok.
