Whose insurer to use for repairs

I was in a non fault accident in my wife's car. Rear ended giving way to a police car (with lights and sirens) at least I have a good witness! I'm a named driver on her policy, with fully comp cover.
We have contacted my wife's insurance company and they want to pass it to an accident management company. I have also been contacted by the other drivers insurance company who would like to sort everything out.
I'm not sure who to use???
I believe that if there are any disputes arising from my wife's insurance company charging excessively, then she would be liable for this, if the other party dispute or refuse to settle.

If you have been given this offer by the third-party then the usual advice is to grab it. Especially when being pushed to an accident management company!
In addition to getting a replacement car off the third party they are usually much better at letting you use your own choice of repairer too if that's something you would prefer0
