Hi all ,well after 8 years on debt management plan with stepchange( thank you) I am now debt free £42000 all paid back 😁
I would like to reclaim bank charges overdraft fees from HSBC,as I believe I was in financial hardship at time of living in overdraft for about 5 year's before taking on the debt management plan, now I know I should have tried to claim back in 2009 but HSBC froze interest on credit card so I didn't want to upset the apple cart so to speak,I have my old account number, but no statements to prove I was living in overdraft, any info would be appreciated thanks

Well done. However, there is a negative. To ask the bank about a refund you need to be in CURRENT financial hardship. Not historic.
You also need to be a current customer.I should have tried to claim back in 2009 but HSBC froze interest on credit card
So it appears they already gave you a goodwill gesture. This is one of the options. A refund of recent charges is another. A refund of charges is not a given in that scenario.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
