Ppi claim with santander on debenhams and bhs store cards

Options
Hi this is my first post, so be gentle with me. In 2012 I had a claim in with Santander who after a very long time said they had no evidence of me being sold PPI even though I know I was mis-sold it as was never given the chance or even told about this because I opened both accounts at point of sale where we were asked would we like a store card and will get a percentage off the items we were buying that day. All they did was put crosses on the form and told you to sign. At the time on one of the cards I was self-employed and on the other card became self employed.
Their rejection letter sent me a copy of my signed credit agreement for one store card and a complete stranger's signed credit agreement!!!!!! A big no-no with data protection. I pointed this out to them and was told they couldn't find my original credit agreement. Martyn Lewis was on This Morning and I'm sure he said if you have already been turned down for a PPI claim you must write back to them, did anybody else see this and if so, do I start a new claim or do I write back to Santander team who dealt with my claim? Advice very much appreciated.
Regards.

You've already been rejected, a new complaint won't change that.

Possibly Martin was talking about the Plevin judgment? It seems some people may get another bite at the cherry because of it. It would be a different ground for complaint so Santander would probably consider it.

Martyn Lewis no longer owns this site, nor does he have any real connection to it these days..

No extra bite of the cherry.
Just the possibility of some redress, despite having been rejected.
No guarantees and no additional complaint.

Once again, some research required before posting..
  • Can I share my personal experience.
I had a similar experience in 2012. Santander stated they no longer held data on my accounts and could therefore not uphold my claim. I knew I paid PPI but as I had settled the accounts several years ago I could not prove it. I wrote to the Ombudsman but only ever received a holding letter back from them. I acknowledge that they were probabuly innundated with complaints and probabuly still are.
Last year I phoned Santander and gave them my details again. They sent out the forms which I completed, and I stated the reasons I believed I was missold. Within a couple of months they had investigated and upheld my complaint and paid compensation. I am not sure why the person originally investigationg did not find my data, but I am so glad I took the initiative and tried again.

As 'Money' has said there are no guarentees, buy my suggestion would be to phone Santander and try again, you lose nothing by trying.
