Have you registered on the electoral roll at your new address?
If you move address and your financial affairs follow with you, more often than not your credit file will have a linked address.
Your default is attached to you, not your address. It doesn't really matter whether the creditor knows your new address or not, because if your file with the CRA gets linked to your old address, the defaults will appear anyway. The creditor doesn't have to move or change them.
If this hasn't happened yet, it's usually a matter of when, not if.0 -
Just because you don't like the asnwer doesn't mean that it's wrong.
Your question was: My feeling is that my current address is not linked to any debt so I would be better off keeping quiet?.
The answer is: no, you will not be better off, as you may be commiting a fraud by applying with that file as you are knowingly witholding crucial information.
Nothing more to it, and consider this as a welcome in a world of consequences of your actions. Luckily this time it's just some, correct, entries on your credit file. Not to mention that you are not keeping up your end of contract with holders of those defaulted accounts, as they require for you to keep address with them up to date.
Im sorry but i have to agree with the OP you are completely missing the point!
The op wants to know if he should tell the companies that hold the defaults his new address.
The answer is, it makes absolutely no difference at all and is certainly not fraudulent if he/she doesn't.
The op is not trying to hide the defaults nor is he trying to get them off his file or anything else underhand. The fact that the ops credit report shows these defaults is enough to know they aint going anywhere until 6 years.
That said its probably best to understand what someone is trying to ask instead of spouting nonsense :T
And op, it may be an idea to get in touch with the companies and offer them full and final settlement on condition that the default is removed from your credit files. Dont get your hopes up though as its a very slim chance they will accept this. But if you dont ask you dont get. I managed to get a Lowell default off my file many a moon ago with the same approach.
Hope that helps.0
