Car Insurance Renewal

Hi
My car insurance is due for renewal on the 12th of April so this morning I had a quick look at what was out there and I have come across a really good price that would take my monthly payments down by £40 quid!
I'm a bit conscious that this price could change by April and I will miss out on it...
How easy would it be to cancel with my current provider so I can start this new policy and would I be charged even if there is only 5ish weeks left?

If you cancel the existing policy you can be charged by the current insurer depending upon the agreement you have with them, For the most part when cancelling a policy a charge is added.
Call the new insurer with a view to take the new offer up with a renewal date as per the completion of existing policy, If you cannot do this with a waiting time of 5 weeks then I am sure that nearer the time you will find other insurers around the same ball park.

Thank you, I am going to ring the new insurer this afternoon and see what they can do.0

If you haven't built up a full NCD yet, then cancelling early will cost you a year.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Dont be suprised when you ask to cancel the old policy and they want to charge you more than the full policy originally cost.
And as above how many years no claims did you declare and do you have? If you cancel early you dont get the no claims. Assuming you have not claimed anyway where the full premium maybe due anyway.
Dont get quotes more than 28 days in advance, quotes are often valid upto 30 days, just keep the quote reference number.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I have been with Elephant Car Insurance for at least 8/9 years and stupidy automatically renewed annually up until this year......saved £324 by haggling with existing insurance company-I used the comparisons I did online to get my price down! Still have my protected no claims bonus & 2nd driver & breakdown. I changed from paying monthly to annually! Not throwing away any more money!!0
