new virgin install

Virgin cabled my area just before Christmas. I happened to bump into a rep outside my local ASDA who was able to lookup details and find out my area should offer service from around end March.

Currently I have
- BT line rental £19
- Infinity 1 unlimited £12.50
- SKy £44 for the entertainment pack/HD including legacy f1

ie 75.50

Virgin will offer me
- vivid 200
- their full house package
- sky sports/bt sports
for £60 albeit only in year 1.
"free" install but they want 14.99 activation fee...

I am still in contract with BT broadband until July so have a liability there. I could wait of course....

£5 for the gamer add-on to avoid limits -- advice is to leave this off, and then add later if needed.

In either case cheaper than sky. If I'm honest I want fast broadband and f1. Ideally some documentaries, but the rest is tat. If only f1 could be streamed online!

Is this deal in the right ballpark for a new location install?
Would this typically include HD or is that extra?
What's the typical renewal like with VM? I'm conscious once I stop my sky I lose my legacy f1 entitlement.....

Have you checked the Virgin website yourself? Quite often they have special offers for newly cabled streets. I got Full House and Vivid 100 for £30 a month with an additional box in November.

However I have just today cancelled it after 15 weeks waiting for installation and numerous broken promises and poor communication. I thought if they are this bad when I'm not tied in, how bad will they be when I'm committed!

You could also try giving your notice to Sky and see if they offer you anything. At least 50% off should be your aim if you do that.

To add, HD comes included with Virgin packages. Even the cheapest I believe.

Good to hear your experience. My property isn't live just yet, though should be very soon now. I should add the price above was for new tivo v6, but your deal does sound pretty good...

I know I can negotiate with sky, but I'm switching for faster BB in any case... so I'd be taking out BB only from virgin, so I don't see much cost saving there. WOrth checking I guess though.
