FENSA or CERTASS

Hi all.

We've had quotes in for double glazing which are fairly comparable:

£5100 (Fensa Reg)
£4490 (Certass Reg)
£4100 (Fensa Reg)

A major company quoted £4990 and then after a special phonecall to the office,it was £4900 and then after I complained about the salesman and the fact I'd been contacted three times, the quote went to £4K!!!

We're not 100% sure about the quality of the windows of the £4100 quote,so was wondering whether anyone has had any experience of FENSA and Certass, as we like both companies and the glass etc is comparable.

Cheers!

Either FENSA or Certass is OK I've read.
  • Makes pretty much no difference.

Go with the company that gave you the best price the first time around. If a company can reduce their price a few times and by a few hundred quid, then ask yourself. Am I prepared to give my business to a company that was prepared to over-charge me?

ask if the windows and frames are A+ energy rated and a argon gas in the gaps this will reflect on the price
ideally you want the A+ rating
FENSA and Certass are the insurance backing
Stay away from the half wits on the TV also
    hope this helps
Spending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.
  • Fensa is more favored within the industry ( higher membership etc) also has more acknowledgment with the general public, nowt else but that alone is enough to go for it over other schemes….

Fensa and certass do not offer ANY guarantees they are offer a scheme for installers to self certicate building regs compliance . Both schemes are similiar Product specification and installers is more important than which scheme to use we are fensa registered and do feel that they are better and were actually set us by glass and glazing federation rather than certass which was setup and is owned by a guarantee company
