Non-standard construction (felt roof)

I've discovered that the house I'm buying has a pitched felt on timber roof. That's making it hard to get home insurance quotes, as most online quotes assume standard construction.

The policies I've found so far (via comparethemarket.com) are underwritten by Fortis and seem very expensive. Can anyone recommend any insurance companies that offer reasonable buildings and contents insurance for properties with non-standard construction? Thanks.

I would recommend you try a local broker (i guess i would say that 'cos i am 1) - think you'll get more joy than t'internet. I placed on the other day with NU - 7.5& premium load. Also Zurich will look at them depending on what % of the roof is flat.
