I am getting real problems with all sound from my laptop.
It is becoming impossible to watch any video footage because of the sound problems (buzzing, crackling, intermittent mechanical noises, stuttering words etc etc)
I have checked and drivers are all up to date. Also followed lot of suggestions to fix it, from just typing problem into Google.
I am at my wits end.
Please help.

It is the same using headphones.
Haven't tried with external speakers...as I don't have any.When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0 -
headphones use the same socket , assuming there are 3.5mm socket headphones
I would assume the chip is faulty , have you tried a removal of the sound card from hardware and then reboot to let it redetect ?Ex forum ambassador

The sound card on my old Toshiba laptop failed some time ago. It's functioned very well ever since using a USB audio adaptor (I use a Lindy) and an external powered speaker (I use a Music Angel). Not the best solution for portability, but a possible workaround if you don't need your lappy to be totally portable, and the sound is actually a lot better than it ever was on the internal speakers.0

I have external speakers too, but I actually have these connected to a 24" TV (which I use as a second screen) ... PC audio goes via the TV through the HDMI connection.0

Chances are the sound 'card' is integrated into the motherboard and, even if not, it would probably mean a major strip-down to get to it. Not a job to take on lightly.0
