OS Daily Monday 07 March

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Good morning everyone.

Up with the larks, it's light outside already and there's one bird twittering away. I miss the birds in the winter.

Just off for a shower, my bus is at 8.03 so I need to leave at about 7.20 to get into town, park the car, pick up a hot coffee and be at the bus stop in time.

I hope all is well with others, thinking of NRA especially.

    Happy Monday everyone.

    Morning All

Getting light but after yesterday's glorious day (after the torrential rain shower early on) it's raining this morning.

Washing fairly up to date and house all clean and tidy.

Collected DD and BF from the airport yesterday with no problems, they came over for a curry last night, friends also here so we heard all about their travels. They are both back at work today which will be a struggle I'm sure.

Good luck on the bus Gers.
    Thinking of you NRA.
    Enjoy having Lizzie LW.
Hope everyone else is well and had a good weekend.

    Take care. XX

Have a good day all :D

    Thanks for the thread Gers.
I've been up since 5, awake for longer, I could no longer get comfortable in the small amount of bed not filled with all the pillows needed to keep my L&M's foot elevated. My beloved claims to have been awake all night from the pain of his sprained ligaments, it didn't seem to stop him snoring though.
I'm off to work soon, then back later to take him to get his new hearing aids fitted, then back to work to make up missed time,
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning all, another non-sleeper here. I woke at 4 but have done nothing of any consequence.

Must get to work , a lively bright morning but chilly.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible, with positive thoughts for those who need them.

    Morning all,

Not too bad here its not raining at least, it rained off and on all day yesterday.

Today is the clients 'Christmas outing' with work we try to take them somewhere each year with the tip money they get through work this year its a trip around a ship and lunch out its going to be busy with 42 of them but should be good.

I am having lunch out too so probably wont want much tonight, there are some tuna steaks and new pots for OH and dd will have a veggi something.

Its my long week at work this week which I dread and am shattered at the end of it.

Washing to do tonight and maybe start an online shop.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Gers - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 gone to work and DS2 still in his pit.

Light here but wet underfoot after the rain yesterday. It started off dry and bright but clouded over and then we had torrential rain whilst we were emptying the caravan and DH and DS1 got soaked.

We still have a bit left to do at the caravan, but other than bringing back the duvet, pillows and sheets, it's empty. We managed to get all the bits we brought back put away too, so majority of yesterday I was sorting bits and pieces and getting them packed away (I've kept the pots and pans, utensils and a few other kitchen bits as nothing wrong with them and DS1 will hopefully be buying a house at some point, they were as good as the one's I have at home so wasn't going to throw them or give them away). We also had some luck in that one of DH's friends and his wife have a small caravan that they bought last year, and didn't have all the equipment, so they are interested in some of our equipment.

Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces, savoury rice and pasta in sauce - we thought it would be a change to the veg option, and we're having pork steaks tonight with mash, carrots and cauli/broc cheese and gravy.

    Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks for the start GERS. Enjoy your bus-day out. We make good use of our bus passes and trip all over using them. My DB and SIL think we are crackers, and wouldn't be seen dead on a bus, but I enjoy planning our multi-bus journeys with military precision!

We are promised quite a nice day after yesterday's on and off rain. Most welcome. I am meeting my oldest friend for a coffee (or two) this morning. A pre-birthday meet up for my gift and card handover. It's a week early as they are off to Spain in a couple of days. Lucky them. We'll have a good old natter as always, catching up on news and gossip.

Not much to do in the way of cooking today I don't think. A pile of mash and an assortment of veg left from yesterday which I will warm up with some bbq fried chicken I think. Lunch will be something quick when I get back from gossiping! Maybe mushroom and bacon omelettes.

JUDI such lovely pictures of the little ones. Your DD and her DP are doing a wonderful job over there at the Baby House.

Have a good day all and (HUGS) as always for the poorlies, worried or sad. Those recuperating remember to rest up! Take care whatever you are up to xx And get well wishes for HESTER's L & M too. x

Good morning chums ,well the weather seems to have brightened up at least, although yesterday was very strange sunshine in short sharp burstsfollowed by showers all day.DD and 2 of the boys Henry and mikey and the two dogs went down to Westgate beach and on the outskirts of the town it was drizzling ,yet when we got down onto the beach it was sunny and mild .First time the new puppy had seen the sea or a beach and he loved it.Couldn't quite work out what those big white birds were so he barked at them just in case :):):) she let him have a short run off the lead as the beach was deserted and he loved it.The older dog just looked loftily on as though to say 'been there ,done that ' :):):)DD treated us to lunch in the beach cafe which is always nice and they don't mind dogs as long as they sit on the floor and are kept on a lead.We came back around 4 and watched Lion on TV which was actually not a bad film at all with Nicole Kidman. The two dogs had their much needed bath which the older one enjoys but the puppy didn't think much off.Although once bathed he just looked like a ball of white fluffy fur and very cute.
Son-in-law made a delicious dinner of roast beef with all the trimmings. He had a big essay to do for his degree yesterday hence why we went off to the beach without him.He is doing a civil engineering degree part time and often has to do quite a bit of technical stuff at weekends. He's a lovely chap, and works very hard and is devoted to the family bless him.
This morning I have some baking to do for eldest DD as she wants some melting moments, so that's one of my jobs to do today .No shopping though and Day six of my buy less for Lent
Hope you all have had a good weekend and <<hugs >> for the poorlies and downhearted
My thoughts are with you NRA at this difficult time xx

    Morning all.

Was up in the early hours with my bladder and then a hounds bladder. Pity they didn't coincide.

Just woke from a dream that I was on a beach somewhere. The sea was blue and the sand silver. Glorious! Shame I had to wake up.

Hubby gave prodigal some money last night. Sceptical I may be but he's not coming for tea tonight. I'd like to think he will buy food with it but I've got a feeling he will use it to get hammered. I've asked hubby not to give him any more. Feed him yes, wash his clothes and let him have a bath yes but we aren't enabling him to live a life of drink and drugs. My food bill was high this week due to the extra food being bought.

Plenty to do in the house today. Nothing got done the weekend so I'll start with one room at a time.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all
