Cost to remove flooded caravan?

My parents caravan was flooded in July on a caravan park. They have decided not to go back on the site for fear of it happening again. When the insurance money was offered they were told that £1600 + vat was being given to the park owners for removal and clear up of their old van. This seems an extortionate amount of money to me. Has anyone any similar experience??
