Do I need a pumber or electrician?

My main circuit breaker box is buzzing fairly noticeably when I go into garage. By a process of elimination, flicking down each switch, I've found that it is theswitch for the combi boiler which is the culprit. I've left it off now until the morningng, I'm afraid it might catch fire or something. Can anyone advise ... do I need a plumber for the boiler or an electrian for the switch? I don't want to disturb them on a Sunday evening so thought I'd phone in the morning. Thanks

Electrician, though a Gas Safe engineer would understand it, fixing the box is an Electricians skill. Just a guess.0

Thanks Chanes. So it's a fault with the box rather than the boiler? I can't understand why it didn't just trip instead of buzzing?0

MCB's can buzz if they are faulty, you have done the right thing by switching it off (safe now, no need to worry).
Call in an electrician, maybe send a pic of the breaker and the whole fuse board so he can drop by a wholesaler to pic one up.0 -
Post a photo of the bit that is buzzing. Is it a modern circuit board?Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Sorry I don't know how to post a photo. Yes it's a modern board - a Hager box. Just one switch buzzing, when I put it down buzzing stopped and boiler went off.0

Thanks that's reassuring, I feel happier now though probably won't feel the same in the morning with no CH and no hot water!
I'll call the electrician's first thing and cross fingers it's not an expensive job.0 -

MCB's are not expensive. You can buy hager MCBs for under £3, so hopefully you'll just be paying for the electrician's time!0 -

I know the feeling when you just move in and things occur in an unwelcome way!
I think it will not be an expensive fix for you, I hope you don't get too cold while you're waiting! We do realise just how much we rely on the boiler when we are suddenly without one.0
