House alarm - internal or external sounder?

We've had a visonic powermax alarm fitted to our house with an external alarm box on the front of the house. Our main bedroom is at the back of the house so we'd like an additional sounder, but can't decide over an internal one on the landing or another bell box on back of the house. What would be better?

Been told the high volume of an internal sounder would make someone leave the house sharpish, but I think an external bell box on rear of the house would be better?

Opinions people?

Internal and external sounders. The internal sounders should be placed somewhere they are not easy to smash but when they go off you really would want to be out of the house!

I agree with both. I used to have internal sounders up and downstairs but when the alarm went off one night during a storm I nearly sh*t the bed when the sounder right outside the bedroom went off at 2am, so just have the outside alarm and an internal sounder downstairs now.

Agree with the posts above, internal sounder I have is deafening.

One argument against a very loud internal sounder is that, once awake, you can't hear whether the intruder is still in the house and what he's doing, and it might also make phoning the police more difficult.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
