Carwow - Quote given but now Dealer says they can't honour it
Hi, I got a quote from a dealer on Carwow for a Renault Zoe electric car, which was very good so we went to the dealer.
They're now saying they can't honour it because it was a mistake. They're saying they incorrectly deducted 2 government grants from the price instead of 1, so the actual quote is now £4,500 more than the original.
Do they have to honour the original quote, as it's in writing on Carwow?
Thanks for your help.

No, they don't. You'll find in the small print 'errors and omissions excepted'.0 -
It's a quote nothing more, if you haven't actually placed an order then it doesn't have to be honoured.0

Government Grants?
I'd expect anyone who could afford to buy a brand new car shouldn't be very high on the list for government handouts.0 -

It is to promote electric cars/reduce pollution, not to assist people to buy a new car per se though of course it 'helps' the person to choose electric over petrol/diesel.0 -
Put another way, it's so that people on the minimum wage can help the rich swan around in electric cars to save their consciences, while making use of all those 'free' charging points. The original quote was, in legalise, an 'invitation to treat'. It does not have to be honoured up to the point of sale. The same applies if a trader has accidentally put the wrong price on something - you can't hold him to it at the checkout, though often traders will do so as a goodwill gesture.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0
