Is it just the shower that is slow to drain away? Toilet and wash basin OK?

Thanks Furts. It has a hair trap which gets removed and cleaned every few days, so that should have helped to prevent any blockage.

I'm also not sure if it's normal for water to sit so high up in the trap, literally only 1cm or so below the opening (slightly above the hair trap!) It's been like that from the beginning and I assumed it was the p-trap or shower-equivalent, but starting to wonder why it is so high.

My Mira shower trap is exactly like this - it is how they are. But it also reflects on my earlier post - years back showers were fitted with deep seal traps and mine like this has never given any issues.

There is a knack to cleaning - some wastes seem to get clean on a strong mixture of washing powder poured down then boiling water. Sometimes I have used copious washing up liquid, then boiling water. Sometimes also drain cleaner.

If you have hair blocking the pipe it may have to be dismantled - which is a significant job - so keep trying unblocking ideas. Here I suggest dissolving the hair.

Wow, that is good to know, thanks. Sounds like Mira need to rethink their product design as it seems that a lot of maintenance will be needed! If anything needs dismantling I would imagine the whole installation would need removing, which doesn't bear thinking about!

These are invaluable, especially when dealing with the low-profile traps.

I use it a couple of times a year to remove preposterously large balls of hair; honestly, I swear my lass should be bald.
