No SBT with Virgin anymore????

I've been recently accepted for a Virgin credit card with £7K credit limit. The only reason that I applied for this card was to get a SBT to my current account and then put the money in my Offset mortgage savings account.
I called Virgin today, but they said they can only pay money directly into my current account as a cash advance with a 2% charge and they cannot balance transfer this way. Hence, I decided to consult the forum.

What am I doing wrong? Isn't Virgin Martin's favourite SBT credit card? They don't seem to be doing it anymore. Any advice/guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

There has been a lot of debate about this recently on the forums.

It may be that MBNA agents are confusing the terms and conditions with other cards. In this situation, the advice appears to be to call up again (and again) to get the fee free SBT.

PS - Not sure how to insert a link to a thread - but you can search on Virgin, SBT to find them.

If you SBT via their website, you don't have to talk to anyone (confused or otherwise) :D

    cheers

But if you do it on their website they might charge... Better to have verbal confirmation.

Well this is completely wrong because all MBNA cards will let you balance transfer into a current account with/without a fee - a cash advance is a different transaction altogether - usually at a silly APR rate.

Thanks a lot to everybody who replied and especially to cronshd. You were so right. I called again and this time it all went so smoothly. I transferred 95% of my credit limit to my current account as balance transfer. I also made a note of the agent's name and her reference code. She was very helpful. BTW, I did all this after signing and returning the form but before actually receiving the card.
I never became a member of any chat forum in my life but I love this one. Everybody is so helpful and great! I always talk about Martin "Martin says this, he recommends that... etc..." My husband will start to think that I have another man in my life :money:
