Driveway removed, car in a hole - my fault?

I would have thought if they have dug all the way out to the pavement (for example to lay a foundation for block paving) the only thing the car is likely to have damaged is the pavement itself, and I guess that's unlikely to belong to the angry person.
How's the car?
They had dug all the way to the pavement - there was just a line of blocks a few inches deep between pavement and hole.
The car seems to be fine - no noticeable damage.
It's a shame I can't attach photos - that would explain it all.0 -

I laughed out loud. You win.0 -
It's difficult to explain the exact circumstances, but I won't have damaged anything (except perhaps a plank of wood that the car physically grounded on). And if I have damaged anything then so be it, it's not the end of the world.
I'm just amazed someone can dig a large hole alongside a pavement and not need to warn people about it. What about the postman, a courier, a pedestrian etc?
Let's hope he doesn't report you for failing to stop and report then.0 -
I think I would have asked his neighbours a few questions about this hole, I recall something similar a few years ago where some crazy guy dug a ditch in front of his drive to stop people using it to turn around, but the area beyond his gate didn't belong to him.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Failing to stop? I was stuck there for 20 minutes!
Like I said, he made it clear he had my details (or at least, all the details he wanted. He didn't ask for my name/address/number). If a police officer thinks some possibly scraped stones are worthy of their time, I'll be happy to make them a cup of tea and discuss it with them at length.0
