My employer changed name!!

Please help!

We are very close to applying for our first mortgage and recently my partner's employer changed names. This obviously means my partner is now employed by a different company. Will this affect our mortgage application as he has worked there for two and a half years?

He's employed by the same company though, not a different one. I can't see how it'd make any difference. They must surely have some crossover period, and I'm sure they could send a letter if required.

Will his payslips and his bank salary credits show the same name?

    If they do, no problem.

It shouldn't be a problem as it won't change his employment position or rights. Presumably there has been some official notification to employees of the change of name? Is so, just provide that along with any other income details needed

No it doesn't. It means that your partner is now employed by the same company using a different name.

When Norwich Union renamed itself Aviva for example, employment for the staff carried on exactly the same - albeit with a different name.

If a company changes name, it's still the same company. Anybody can check on Companies House if they need confirmation of a change of name.

If they've actually transferred his employment to a different company then he must have had letters from his employer notifying him of that under the TUPE rules, so I would expect it easy to prove it's continuous employment under the same contract.

From time to time, we do have cases where the employer name on the payslips is X and the salary credit appears in the name of employer Y as one is the local trading name and the other is the global holding company.

X and X or Y and Y will cause no issues.

If we get X and Y we have to obtain evidence of the reason for this before we submit the application.

Please note. Lenders don't sit carrying out searches at Companies House, they pass the buck to the broker or the applicant to prove the connection.

My husband was a few weeks away from starting a new job when we applied for a new mortgage. His new employers filled out the documentation required and we had no problems getting the new mortgage.
