Do I have to provide my national insurance number and licence number to get car insurance. Also can I cancel my policy with no charges.

No they do not ask for a NI number, And your unlikely to get one with no cancellation charges unless its a high premium in the first place.

Any insurance asking for your driving license number should tell you it is only optional.
Some companies or brokers state it may reduce the cost of your insurance quote but I have tried getting quotes with and without my driving license number and it does not appear to have any affect.0
