PIP invite letter

Options
Regards family member, they have responded to their invite to apply letter. The were asked if they wanted current dla info used for this .. I'm not sure if they meant from last dla claim form. Should we assume it's better to say yes here and does this mean they will use past info to make a decision or will they always send a pip claim form out for uptodate information too?

What has been your experience please.

Is this the letter they got?

Some good information on the transition here

In general, up to date medical evidence is good. Best to collect it yourselves as the DWP won't necessarily go looking for it

Agree with above advice. Although you likely will tick yes (unless there is evidence in the ongoing DLA claim that invites problems in claiming PIP regarding its criteria which in most cases is probably unlikely) assume that the DWP will make little to no effort in seeking evidence (such as from existing DLA claim) for the PIP claim other than referring to the private medical contractor who will likely carry out a face to face assessment. Present any evidence (the more recent the better) that you think helps a claim in regard to the Activity descriptors for PIP that determine entitlement (available widely online including from DWP and organisations like CAB). The criteria for DLA and PIP are different and the methodology of assessing entitlement is different. But as I say the odds are the DWP will not take a decision given the evidence they have and indeed even after the lengthy "How your disability affects you" form (expect that to be sent to them in due course) is returned to them completed. They'll likely refer to one of the two private medical contractors who for new claims will typically invite for face to face medical at an assessment centre.. no guarantees but more likely than not. The DWP typically will take a decision in line with the report/advice of the private medical company's Healthcare professional. If they are in due course asked to attend assessment then this is when someone like you might be particularly useful... to support them in preparation and attendance. Important though is that it is appreciated this is a new claim for a new disability benefit... hence the invitation to apply and no doubt the warning DLA will soon stop.
