I closed my account with virgin for my tv, phone and broadband in January. Just looked at my credit score and it has dropped by 110 points and the only difference on my account is the virgin closure.
Why is this cause it seems stupid

Double check everything, it's not uncommon to "fall off" the electoral roll with a glitch for example
Settling a account is an unlikely reason for a drop in rating, unless it's the only account being recorded ?0 -
Thx rothstein, we moved address 2 months ago. I did re register us at a new address but maybe need to wait longer. There is no register on file for this though0

Sometimes the online electoral roll system doesnt update, do it again !!
Sometimes , and it's happened to me twice with experian , their internal system updates and incorrectly lists your roll info, so again, check it's correct0 -
It depends on how often they update their records. When I moved I updated the electoral register. Clearscore(equifax) updated within a couple of months but it took Noddle well over a year - I had informed them of the error but they required proof and wouldn't update it without. My council charge for such letters, so I left it. Didn't have free access to Experian reports at the time so don't know when they did it.
Councils publish updated electoral registers, so whilst you may have registered it depends when the next update is published and it depends how frequently the CRA's buy the updates.0 -

It will be because you've moved and there isn't enough history yet to show you at your new address. Councils send their full Electoral rolls at the end of the year to the CRA's then changes on a rolling basis after that, so your ER entry can take months to appear on your credit file after a move. Your address is used to verify your identity and find you when doing a CRA search, which is why your are asked to provide at least 3 years address history. Being on the ER is beneficial aiding proof of residency, I always recommend that people are on it but isn't a deal breaker as your financial accounts also provide your address so you can still be found.0
