External web cam on tablet

The internal camera on my Hudl2 tablet has broken. Does anyone know if you can connect an external cam to a tablet and use it for Skype etc ? I realise that I need an otg cable but wonder whether the Skype app will recognise it.

Fairly sure you are onto a looser with this as you will need webcam drivers that work on the Hudl2 for that model of camera.
Also many usb connections on phones seem slower than connections to mormal PCs and the data rate may not be sufficient. Hudl2 might be fast, but all my mobiles have been slower than normal usb memory sticks.0 -
