I was looking at the SSE Elec 2 year fix deal today.
DD Payment.

When you select monthly payment or quarterly payment you get the same price on CEC.

However when you goto their website, you get a £40 discount for paying monthly and therefore the price on CEC is wrong.

The CEC Quartly price should be +£40

Unless you get some deal by going via CEC ?

I'm not sure if it is a region specific error, or if it has already been corrected, but just looked myself at the East Midlands supply region and it seems correct to me.

Tariff is the SSE 2 Year Fixed

£40 discount is applicable if you pay by Direct Debit (Monthly or quarterly)

Payment quarterly by cash/cheque is coming up £40 p.a. more than payment by direct debit

    :)

Topcashback have a pretty good cashback offer for SSE tariffs at the moment £23.20 for single fuel and double that for duel fuel. Just in case you were interesting in the switch.

As I said, you also get the discount for paying quarterly by direct debit ;)
Paying by Direct Debit means your bill is £40 less per annum, per fuel, deducted proportionately from your standing charge on a pence per day basis, when compared to using another payment method. Using paperless billing means your bill is £6 less per annum, per fuel, deducted proportionately from your standing charge on a pence per day basis, when compared to using another billing method. Inclusive of VAT at 5%.

You have the options of paying either monthly direct debit (fixed), quarterly direct debit (variable) or quarterly billing (on demand)

Check their website for full terms & conditions .

    Arh. I see.

But why doesn't it give me the "quarterly by direct debit" option ? :(

I switched to SSE for electric less than two weeks ago, still waiting for it to complete. Was currently paying variable quarterly Direct Debit with EDF.

When I spoke to SSE they said that they do have an option to pay Quarterly Direct Debit (assuming it's variable as well, forgot to ask) but the website currently only offers the monthly Direct Debit when signing up. When everything is setup you have to phone them and ask to be changed to the quarterly Direct Debit payments option/plan.

Hopefully it should work out fine. Much prefer to pay via the quarterly Direct Debit option as you are always paying for what you have used via a meter reading or as with EDF they used to divide my last up to date meter reading and usage by four and take that every quarter as a regular payment.

    Call them?

As for your parents, get them to call them if they want to be supplied by SSE.

    Good luck!
