Logging into MSE forum . . . Insecure???

This isn't what I was intending to post, but . . . Logging into MSE just now I get a warning from Firefox in the form of an icon. Linking through to the FF warning page I'm told this:
"Insecure password warning in Firefox. This is a new feature starting in Firefox version 51. Firefox will display a lock icon with a red strikethrough, as well as a warning in the password box when a login page you're viewing does not have a secure connection.
"This is to inform you that if you enter your password it could be stolen by eavesdroppers and attackers. If a login page for your favorite site is insecure, you can try and see if a secure version of the page exists by typing https:// before the url in the location bar.
"You can also try to contact the web administrator for the site and ask them to secure their connection. Not recommended: You can also continue to log in to the website even if the connection is insecure, but you do so at your own risk."
I've tried the secure http route but no, that doesn't work. So, um, is Firefox being unnecessarily paranoid here, or should MSE be doing more? (I still remember the hacking of this site a few years ago.)

Thanks, Sooler! I actually ran a quick forum search before posting as I hate to question something that may already have been raised, but unfortunately I stuck in Firefox password warning. . . Doh! Thanks again.
PS: I didn't quite follow Andrea's reference to Google in her post?? I don't use Google to link to / sign in to MSE and certainly would never use Google as a search engine, either, seeing as how I'm a Quacker.0 -
Andrea means Chrome (made by Google), not Google search engine or account ... they've recently implemented such a scheme; Firefox have followed along.0

DoaM: thanks for the instant clarification -- I must be having a blonde moment (year) as I'd clean forgotten Chrome.0
