Cancelled car insurance and they want more premium

I recently cancelled my car insurance with Admiral. I paid monthly for it. I phoned up to cancel and they quoted me a cancellation fee which I paid via debit card; I was told that I could cancel the direct debit as my cover was due to end before the next installment, so as I didn't want any money coming out by mistake, I gladly did. They've now sent me an email requesting that I pay the next month's installment. I've searched all the T&Cs and can't find reference to you having to make repayments on the credit agreement beyond the term of the cover should you choose to cancel; just the cancellation fees. Can anyone make sense of this request, and more importantly do I have the right to resist this charge?
Thanks,
Adam

If the refund of premium from the insurer wasn't enough to clear the outstanding balance on the finance, then you would be liable to pay the different. In the same sense, if the refund was more than the outstanding balance you would be entitled to a refund of the difference.
Ask them for a breakdown in costs to explain exactly what the charge is for and how it has been calculated.0
